Your guest list

The list you paste, the file you drop and the chart that comes out of them are handled entirely inside your browser. Reading a .csv, unzipping and parsing an .xlsx, solving the seating and writing the PDF all happen on your own machine. None of it is transmitted, so there is no copy of your guests on any server we or anyone else runs.

Your list is kept in this browser's local storage so that closing the tab does not lose your work. That storage is on your device only. Clearing your browser data for this site removes it.

What is collected

Nothing that identifies you and nothing about the contents of your list. There are no accounts, no email addresses, and no cookies set by this site. There is no advertising pixel and no third-party script: the fonts, the icons and the code that solves your chart are all served from this domain.

Page views are counted. The page path, the referring site, a coarse country and the browser family go to Counterscale, which we run ourselves atcs.seatsolver.com - our own subdomain, not an analytics company. It sets no cookie, writes nothing to your browser's storage and stores no IP address. We count it for one reason: to see whether anything out there is actually sending people here.

It never sees a guest. Nothing from your list is in the page path, so there is nothing about a named person for it to record even in principle.

The web server that hosts the pages records ordinary request logs - the page requested, the time, a coarse location and a user agent - the way every web server does. Those logs contain no guest data, because no guest data is ever sent.

Children and student data

The classroom page is used with student names. Those names are handled exactly like every other name here: read in the browser, never transmitted, never stored anywhere but your own device. There is no account to attach them to and no record for us to disclose.

Changes

If this site ever starts sending any part of a guest list anywhere, that will be stated on this page before it happens, not after.
